What would be the reasons for a guy never initiating texts with a girl?

If a guy was your friend (just recently became friends), you talk in person at school, hang out, he looks at you when you aren't looking, initiates convos with you in person, tries to be near you... but never initiates texts with you.. what does that mean? by the way he def texts other people because he's online on whatsapp all the time and I see him on his phone always.

One more thing, we have a group chat as well, and when he does want to initiate something with me, he will address me through the group chat, not a private text... why? also when I do text him first privately, he replies and everything, he doesn't leave me on read or reply the next day.

Introvert. Is it possible he is attracted to you and is also extremely shy? I used to be like that and I think it was because I was afraid to be rejected or left on read. Perhaps he is too which is why he doesn't want you to feel that way and doesn't leave you on read

he seems confident around everyone else though. but he's never had a girlfriend either. sometimes it seems like he could be shy, but the fact that he is so outgoing with everyone makes me think okay... so then he's not shy (but idk). so maybe you have a point. Why would he be afraid to be rejected though? I always respond to his replies and even reply to him on our group chat.

Does everyone else include girls that are prettier than you? Because if he is just confident among guys, then it's safe to say he is shy around girls. If he is only shy around you, it's safe to say he is attracted to you and probably want to be more than friends. And since he hasn't had a girlfriend before he doesn't know how to get there and doesn't want to mess up by texting you first. If you have similar feelings for him, which I think you do since you're concerned about this, you can put him in a spot where he has to text you first. (For ex: if you're school goers, you can ask him to send you the notes when he gets home/finishes completing them)

nahh other's aren't prettier than me. maybe equal (and I don't mean this in a rude way at all, just trying to be clear and honest haha). But here's the thing. Once, me and him were talking about movies and he mentioned a movie that I should watch. After we went home, he later texted that movie name in the group chat! not to me privately. the other 2 people in the chat were like... wtf (they were lost bc they weren't present in the in-person convo). That's the thing, he will initiate through the group chat before doing it in a private text lol. so if I ask him about hwk in person he'll prob send me a text through the group chat smh.

Maybe he isn't a texter. I'm not overly fond of it compared to face to face either. He just wants the real thing. Try phone calls. More real more intimate more you.

seems like it too. the only thing is usually nervous guys are able to text but get nervous in person. with this guy it's the opposite... never heard of it like that before lol
