Well, from reading that, I'm going to give more of a personal opinion on the whole thing. It could be good advice, but remember to take a lot of it with a grain of salt as I am not everyone in the world and some people act on their own whims. Saying "Good morning" for most, if not, all mornings does give me a vibe of someone who like someone else. I mean, it's a bit obvious, but that's not a bad thing. As you said, the guy clarified he cared about you. It's all kinda confusing because with how you described the night, it does sound a tad bit odd. I don't think saying nothing was a bad idea to test the waters after what you've been told, but I also feel like you shouldn't just call it quits. You should probably confirm these things by asking. Sure, it's tough, but it's the only way to confirm this information. Deep down, if he cares, he won't flip a table by you asking. This is all based on assumptions and that's not a safe bet. If you guys even have a chance at being a thing, you have to be able to talk to each other. I had someone think I was cheating on a girl because someone looks like me in my town. He told her and, because she didn't talk to me, we broke out in a fight. I wish you luck and like I said, don't read too much into my advice as we all have our own personal experiences that can dictate different things. Try to follow your heart at the end of the day so you can be the most "you" and less of someone else.
