  You should at least smile at the guy to let him know you'll welcome his approach. If guys smile, some women get creeped out depending upon how unattractive the guy is that does it. I've never seen a guy get creeped out in the reverse role myself (unless she's hideous). Most guys will just ignore you if they are not interested.

  A cold approach is likely to be greeted by a spray of abuse, rather than a simple 'no'.
  Changes to law, as well as #MeToo, have made it too legally dangerous to approach females.
  The workplace has become an absolute no-go zone, in terms of showing interest in a female.
  In the field in which I work, even the young men do not want to be in the same room as a female any more.
