Why won’t he tell my friend who he likes?

I have had a crush on a fellow 9th grader since January. I don’t know if he likes me back or not. I have caught him looking at me a few times and one time he was turned around staring at me. He seems to always end up standing near me in group photos for band and school. We were playing Bit Life the one day about a month ago and it came up about us dating and he got very excited by he denied liking me. My friend said he likes someone but won’t tell her who he likes. Do you think he likes me, and is this the reason he won’t tell her who he likes? Also do you think I stand a chance with him, like in a dating? And I know my age is not correct on here, I am actually the same age as he is.
