What does it mean when a guy mentions his mum a lot?

We’ve met 3 weeks ago online just before lockdown and have been texting pretty much everyday. More recently he shared a picture of him with his mum and brings her up a lot during conversations. He says things like “oh when my mum has had a bad day I do this for her”, “right now I’m making her dinner”. Apparently he’s very close to her.

i went out with a guy like this not too long ago, he lived with his mum & little sister & he ended up having quite a co-dependent relationship with his mum. at first I thought it was really sweet, like he loved & cared for his mum, then i realised she had an opinion on him going out with me & was trying to tell him i was a bad idea, that’s when it started to get weird, as i told him it’s best we don’t see eachother again, he said ‘i’m never dating anyone again, i could never put my mum through that!’ ummm, what? that’s when i realised all of his mum’s profile pics are of her & he, not his brother or sister... hopefully yours is innocent, but just be aware, it could be a red flag.

None because of lockdown but we’ve called twice and one of them was FaceTime

He’s not likely to be serious until he’s been out with you a few times. Be sure not to let your emotions be that deep for him until you meet him irl.

Sometimes when we text and he’s about to wish me goodnight he says things like “dream of us 🥰” or he asks for selfies and then says “I’ll just be imagining how it’ll be like to hold you from behind, would you let me hold you against me?”

It’s literally a week just before the end of lockdown, I think I’d rather wait tbh

Oh there’s the answer. See why I suggested you hold onto your emotions and not fall too deeply? Bluntly the daily texting is too much at this point, you haven’t met. But no, he’s not serious if he hasn’t even planned a date yet. Sounds like things are ok, just will need to see what actions he takes when lockdown ends.

You could suggest a few things you are looking forward to go do after lockdown ends. That way if he’s considering meeting you he better knows how to plan activities you would enjoy doing.
