Girl can be fertile at that age, but their body isn't really ready and pregnancy is a real danger at that young age, and that is why it's illegal in most countries. Its just a age gap and as long as she okay with it, I see no problem with it. They are both adults.

Technically pedophiles are people sexually attracted to people before they enter puberty. Legally that would be somewhere under 13, even though some people enter puberty as young as 10. They guy got to know the person over several years and didn’t date her until she was legally an adult at 18 and didn’t do anything sexual until 19. So that doesn’t match any of the criteria for pedophilia. Technically he might be an ephebophile but that’s not something you can prove. If they met talking over voice on the internet he was interested in the personality behind the screen not the body of a young person. That said depending on where the individuals live, that may or may not be socially acceptable. Some places the age of consent is lower than others. Most of the world is OK with somewhere between 14 and 17. So in their culture it might bot be creepy at all. Generally people respect the boundaries outlined by the society they live within, but if they were raised in a different society their might be different cultural beliefs. For example in much of South America and in China 14 is normal. In much of the Middle East and parts of Africa 13 is normal… Where I come from 18 is the standard. Either way no action was taken until after they were both adults. Thus he is in the clear I suppose. It might make you uncomfortable, but he didn’t do anything legally out of the ordinary. Mid 30s dating an 18 year old seriously is a little weird to me because the maturity gap I guess, but they are both adults and have to make their own decisions. When she’s 26 and he’s approaching his 40s it’s much less weird because she’s more mentally developed and exposed to world. She’d be more capable of making more mature decisions. So the age gap isn’t the end of the world, it’s more so that very young women might be a bit naive and thus it might not be the right time. But they are ultimately adults and have to lead their own lives.
