Why is he not confident when talking/texting?

A guy I recently met, is very confident. But when he speaks to me, he uses phrases like "can try to", "I dont know for sure..", or "from little that I know". I've noticed these quite a few times. Wondering why is it so. He isn't an insecure person for sure.

Well there are a couple reasons I can think of. The first is to ensure people realize he's not an authority and whatever he says should net be taken as fact, modesty, or a desire to not appear patronizing and 'mansplain, it to you.

Maybe the more you get to know him the more he is allowing you to see the real him.. Meaning that he isn't as confident as his image suggests.

Shyness and inexperience could both be factors. Try to make him feel relaxed.
