Why do married men call other women "love" "sweetie" "dear"?

I had a married boss who called me "love" at one point and it was soo cringeworthy. do men ever think before they open their mouth? And no, he wasn't looking to cheat either. he's a dedicated family man. Just a really awkward situation I had to brush off.

This is not even the only time where I've had guys call me all sorts of pet names. there's another few guys who always call me "sweetie" "dear". They're all old people 40+. Young men never ever call me that. I'm not even a young teenage girl, I'm a grown ass woman 26 years old.

It's pretty common in the Midwest so I don't even notice it anymore. I call a lot of people "sweetie" and "darlin." I think the only people who ever say "dear" to me are elderly ladies and horny Indian net geeks online.

Just saying it's regional. I don't know where you live, but in some parts it's pretty common.

Maybe it's a habit luv, I call ladies luv, hun or desh too, but I am not married right now, although I might not change in the future even I get married.

I've always done it probably cause of how I was raised even in school I always called girls those. It doesn't mean I want something from them its just being nice
