Shy Guys: Do you ever take the initiative in asking a girl out?

I like a very shy guy and It seems like he really likes me but he never asks me out or to hang out. He always hangs out with me if I ask him, and he always says that he wants to take me somewhere or do something with him. Example" I should take you to ..." or "I'm gonna take you..." Problem is he never actually asks me...So do you shy guys ever ask a girl out if you like her?

I'm trying to figure out if he actually wants to go out with me and what should I do?...

I'm not shy unless I am around a girl I really like, which makes it painstakingly obvious for her. It takes me a long time (several months, some times) to be able to ask out a girl I like. But you know what would probably help shy guys like him and I out? If a girl that he liked had the audacity to ask him out. It would raise their confidence by a huge margin. Hell, the reason guys like me are shy around women they like is because they've been rejected by someone he truly cares about...in my case, multiple times.

Nope,not me. I think I seriously might be too shy. It's going to really screw me in the long run unless some girl really shows that she's interested. :\

Im pretty shy too, so how could I let him know without making it too obvious but still showing that I'm really interested?

Well I'm not sure but I agree with the person above me. Maybe he is asking you out but indirectly. Next time he says something like that say "Oh that sounds fun,when were you thinking." Make it seem like he already asked you out somewhere and you just want the date and time.

I think though, it's important to distinguish between being shy and being flaky.

Your guy sounds a little bit more flaky than shy. If he says that he's going to do something, and he doesn't actually do it, then to me, he's being flaky. It could be that there's something holding him back. Maybe he doesn't know how far he wants to go with you, or maybe he believes it's better for you to initiate everything.

But from the way you describe it, it sounds like it's more deliberate than just shy. Or it may be just his general nature that he doesn't take initiative that much.

Well depending on what type of shy he is.. He may have been asking you out..

He'll say..

"i should take you to that.. If you want to go" that's might be his way of asking you.. Did you say yes?

Or

"Im going to take you to that.. Shouldnt I?"

It sounds like he wants to ask you out directly but is afraid you'll reject him so instead he's offering ideas and seeing if you'll bite..

He actually only says "Im gonna take you to ..." then I say something like that would be fun , then nothing...

Again he might be asking you out.. I was just writing it in a way you could ser how it might sound to him when he says it..

And your comment "that would be fun" is only a half yes.. He may not push it..

If you say "that would be fun" you should follow it with a "when?"

Sounds like he wants to but wants to be sure about it so he doesn't get his heart smashed into little bits. If you're interested in him, next time you see him you should ask him "so when are you going to take me to...? I'm really looking forward to it."
