He says he only sees me as his best friend but treats me like more?

I have a guy friend i have grown close over the last 6 months. I am going through a divorce and he has been there for me through it all. When he first met me back when I was still married he was interested in dating me until he found out I was married. Now he has said he only see me as his closest best friend. Yet he treats me very different than any of his others friends. He text me or calls me every morning to say good morning. He calls or text me through out the whole day sometimes our talks totalling over 5 hours. Our days end with a good night and I love you. He has brought me into his family and got me close to them all. He always wants us to go out places alone. He gets jealous whenever other men show me attention. He talks about me to his family and friends, mutual and otherwise, all the time. Why does he say he only see me as a his best friend and not a future girlfriend but then acts this way?

He also is very careful to not ever upset me in any way. He hugs me every time we see each other and does not let me leave without a hug. He compliments me all the time, calling me beautiful in appearance and soul and mentioning things he loves about me.

He is flirty and likes to tease me and we talk about sexual subjects many times as well.
