I don’t understand whether this guy likes, dislikes me or is indifferent?

We have a common friend and often see each other at his place at parties etc. He generally is nice to me, smiles, comes to me to talk to me and asks questions about me, gives me long gazes with smiles, once he even said in front of everyone that “he really loved me” because I always smile, etc. I like him and since I thought I was getting very positive signs, I asked him to go out for a drink just the two of us. He always said that he thought it was a cool idea, however every time I proposed him a day and time he said he was busy (it’s been a few months now…). I thought it meant he didn’t want to, but than when we see each other he goes like “shall we try to go for a drink the next week?”. But the next week, he doesn’t propose a date or if I do, he says he’s already busy…

If it is a few months like that he might be playing you for his ego. I don't think he is always super busy for that long.

Yeah… it’s been at least 3 times: I write to him asking if he’s up for seeing each other, he either does not reply or finds an excuse, than we see each other at this friends’, he comes to me and tells me “I’ve been busy but we should try next week, text me to let me know when you’re free” and as I text him, again, he either doesn’t answer or finds an excuse. But when we see each other, he’s very gentlemanly to me, always checking that my glass is full or running around to get me food or water or whatever… and he’s always glued to me. I really don’t get him

Yeah, some people are like that. I had a bank teller ask me if had a girlfriend and said no. She writes down her number. I call her that night to ask her out and she is busy all the time. She had an excuse for every day and time.

I once told him that he was a very complicated person and he admitted to that and told me he would have told me about it when we would have seen each other alone. But that never happened.
