Is it bad for a guy you like to tell you to stop being down on yourself?

It really depends on why he’s saying it. Are you talking down on yourself too much? maybe he’s tired of hearing it. He could also definitely be saying it as your friend, and believes differently than your negative thinking

No not too much but I did say something that prompted him to say that. I really like him but he doesn’t feel the same and it really really really hurts.

I felt like if I looked better or was someone else he would talk to me. I said something along those lines because he took days to respond to a text when I asked if he wanted me to stop texting him

Ofc I didn’t reach out at all until he responded back and he did.. he said “sorry I’m not intentionally ignoring you I’ve been dying at work “
