Why would a guy admit that he is player?

I do not know why this happens with me, when a guy apporaches me, he will ask about my love life then when he talks about himself, he will say he has been with lot of girls. He says he has girlfriend yet he had flings on the side. I do not understand why he is saying all this and not bothered about his image in front of me. I asked him why he tells all his business with me. He says he thinks I am not a gossip kind, he can talk to me about everything and says I am his close person and he feels which is not true, I only know him for 2-3 days. He also in between flirts me which is annoying as I only see him as a friend. My questions is A guy even if he consider a girl to be his friend wouldn't he like to maintain decent image in front of her but with me they tell me all their dirty escapades that he cheated on his girlfriend and shit.
