The dreaded statement: I need space?

When a guy says they need space what does that actually mean? Not if you’re in a relationship with them just if you’re dating.

Like if a woman says that, I would assume they are trying to tell you that they don't want to see you anymore, and are too chicken to be direct (but in their head, being "nice"). People don't realize the indirect way is actually MORE hurtful.

Agreed especially since people like to use “breaks” and “space” often in their interpersonal relationships when they’re not getting along.

It depends on how long. If he just wants a few hours to himself then it means nothing other than he just wants some alone time but if its weeks then he definitely has doubts about the relationship.
