Help me interpret his feelings. Every time I compliment this man I’ve been seeing (50s) he always smirks and acts awkward?

I (20s) am always telling this man (50s) I think he is sexy, hot, etc… which I do actually think that. He always plays it off or just smirks. Does he think I’m lying when I say it? What’s are some things I can do to impress him? He shows interest back, but with such an age gap I wanted more opinions.

He might not believe you are authentic. There are girls that seek in older men, only material advantage or are attention seekers.
In both cases its a kind of cheating, I mean she fakes attraction or even love, on first case to gain money, on the second because she is insecure and depends on others to feel good.
In any case eventually the man gets nothing, as these fake relationships are just illusion.
He may not want to go through that , and he thinks you want to play him and attract him in a trap. These how I see. And if I were him i would react the same.
