Why can’t I move on from this guy?

A few months ago I went out with someone who I really liked, we talked on and off for a bit and then he disappeared. A month ago I heard from him again apologizing for disappearing. We became causal for a bit, and a part of only wanted to be causal so I could keep him in my life. He disappeared again. After everything I’m crazy about him, when I hug him I never wanna let him go. Why can’t I move on even though I know he doesn’t feel the same way?
