Communication problem here, I believe.

Basically what @miseriacantareafi means is that you are paying for a service which generally requires "personal" customer service. If somebody is teaching how to fight, that means sometimes they have to lightly fight you and get to know your body well.

This also means that they have to be extra nice to you, otherwise you will feel like crap after somebody proves to you that they can beat you up constantly. This means the customer service will be deceptively polite to you.

You know how a girl could be really nice to a guy and he takes that the wrong way? That can happen to women, too. If you combine this with how the instructor is maybe in good shape and knows how to fight but is always very close and personal with you, your desire for a "protector" might overide your better judgement.

These are just my assumptions, mind you based on very little information provided... but this sounds like a possibly messy and ego shattering moment for you, if you pursue this..
