Why would a guy wait years for one girl? Saying that it didn’t feel the same with other girls he’s tried to be with.

Because he's immature and/or inexperienced, and hasn't learned that you can't make other people change how they feel about you. This is one of the hardest lessons to learn in life: that you can't change other people. In order for a relationship to work, BOTH people have to want it, and work on it. One person can't "love enough for both people." A lot of people learn this painful lesson early on, but some don't learn it until much later in life, and some people NEVER seem to learn it.
