Why would a guy randomly “lend” a girl his clothes?

So this guy that I’ve been seeing just started giving me his hoodie to wear out of the blue. He would come pick me up before a date and he’ll just hand over his hoodie and told me to keep it because it’s “too small for him”.

I understand if he wants me to wear it if I asked to borrow his hoodie whenever we hook up/I’m staying over (I’m not at that point where I’m comfortable enough to ask to borrow his clothes just yet though), but why would he just randomly “gift” his clothing to me?

So while I appreciate his gesture, I just find it a bit unusual bcs I’ve never had a guy just straight up offer me his hoodies/t-shirts to wear out of the blue lol Is this common?
