Why would a guy not give a girl her things back?

I left jewelry at my friends with benefits house a few weeks ago and have been trying to get it back. Every time I text him about it he ignores me and then makes up a dumb excuse or just flat out ignores me with no response. I even told him he could leave it in his mailbox so I wouldn’t have to physically see him. Why would a guy do this? We haven’t had any fights or arguments, this is just plain disrespectful..

Nope nothing unfortunately. Not sure if I should keep texting him asking for it or just forget it at this point. It wasn’t valuable, but does hold high sentimental value.

It seems that way. My ring isn’t that valuable though, it only holds sentimental value to me. He wouldn’t be able to pawn it for any $$, which is why his behavior is super confusing
