Would a guy give his jacket to a girl he was not interested in?

So I am really interested in this guy that I met a few weeks ago. We have a lot in common and get along well. I was outside with him and a couple of his friends the other night, and I didn't have a sweatshirt so I started getting cold. He offered to give me his jacket, and when I declined he looked hurt and his friend kind of laughed and patted him on the back. I really can't tell if he likes me or if he just wants to be friends. He smiles at me, when he went to add me on facebook he could not remember my last name so he kept trying names that sounded like it until I finally came up, it seems like he tries to be around me, and I think I caught him staring at my butt once. Are those all things someone who just wanted to be friends would do? (besides the checking me out ha ha). So, what do you think, whould he give me his jacket is he was not interested in?

Lending out a jacket means quite little in my book, we don't like to see people being cold and hell I've even lend it to a couple of guys because I'm not cold easely myself with my above average body temp.

However, I'm going off his friend that was patting him on the back here which wouldn't be normal unless there was "something" going on that his friend knows about. I'm leaning towards he's interested just purely because this was irregular but don't take my word for it as its little to go on.

He wouldn't bother to keep searching names if he wasn't interested/cared at least a little bit in one way or another, the checking you out speaks for itself however.

I'm a guy, and my jacket goes to whichever girl is shivering, even if I don't know them. I get a few strange looks from people, but I meet a lot of people by doing so. It depends on the guy as to whether or not it means anything.

Has he ever given his coat to other girls? If yes, does he do it often? If he never gives his coat out, he likes you. If he loans his coat to anyone who's cold, he's just a nice guy, and doesn't mean anything by it.

I think the guy likes you since he wouldn't stop looking for you on Facebook until he found you and he offered his jacket to you when you were cold

Most often, no. If he offers you his jacket, he likes you. Only if you guys were extemely close friends and he knew you wouldn't take anything of it, then he would without liking you.
