I was somewhat confused and I didn’t want to assume things. What do you think?

I have a male friend who I started became more familiar with, this year. One day, during class he suddenly asks me who my type is. I was like, why are you suddenly asking me this question (in my head) He was also telling me if I like tall or short guys. The question made me really uncomfortable to talk about due to me never actually having a specific “type.” Before the subject changed, he talk about pairing me with someone. The whole time, I had no idea what to say. Maybe because I hated people interfering with my love life. This event just happened recently and it was the first time he talked to me about the topic of love. I try to not think too much but it just bothers me. What do you think?

I would think 2 things: he wanted to check if you are single or interested in someone already (because he is, in you) so he wanted to see how you react to what he says, or one of his friends is interested in you and he wants to check if he can pair you with him because he is too shy to make a move by himself, so he asked this friend to come testing the waters, to understand the chances he has. May be even this guy who talked to you just cares about a friend who is constantly inactive about girls and wants to push him having a relationship, or a flirt, by "imposing" that to him.
Of course, do only what you want to do. If he "pairs" you with someone, and you don't like this guy, then it's not your problem, you didn't promise anything to anyone, so you don't owe any chance or explanation to them.
Also, it's pretty normal to not have a "type", I don't have a type either and anyway most people think to have a type but then end up having relationships with people who are completely different than that, so... That is not something important to define.

I think a few things. First, it's okay if it bothers you. Any thoughts you have on this are valid. Next, don't dwell on it, but do think about it. This will happen throughout your life. Possibly often. As for him, this could be his clumsy way of trying to get to know you. Or a clumsy way of trying to say he likes you. Or he might be trying to pair you up with another guy who does like you and is too shy to say anything about it. You didn't ask for advice, so please forgive me for offering some:

Own this. You don't have to have a type and you can say as much. Remember, most guys are visual. Tell this guy (and the others later in life): "I don't have a type. I like nice guys and guys who are confident enough to talk to me directly."

Also, for all of guys' macho bluster and often cluelessness, they/we have hearts. Let us down nicely.

He probably thinks he knows some guys that would be interested in you. If you don't want him setting you up with people, just say "no" if he suggests anyone.
