Why did he say I’m not fat when I am?

We’ve been talking for a while. I was falling down on myself and he said he couldn’t understand why, that I’m very curvy. I’m not, though, I’m fat, and I told him that. He said “you are not fat at all, you’re thick and you look really good.” But it isn’t true. Why would lie to me

I have a friend that thinks she is fat.
I told her she is not.

Why? Because :
1. Even if she is curvy I think she is pretty and have a nice body. Ok she is not skinny and maybe have a bit of extra-weight to lose, but it doesn't make her ugly, not for me.
2. I think she is a good person and I don't want her to be sad because of her body. It actually makes me sad to see her being sad. She is a good friend.
3. I hoped I could date with her. Actually, I couldn't, but we are still good friends so it is ok.

Maybe his idea of fat is different then yours?
As a man that prefers plus size women my idea of curvy, chubby, fat, etc is a bit different then then the average person. That being said he may legitimately feel you aren’t fat.
