Why a guy act like he likes you and then look at you with hates?

This is really confusing, almost every guy I’ve met does this at some point. He would keep staring and be nice. And suddenly he acts like if I did something to him (when I haven’t), avoids me, looks at me like he hates me and pretty much throws me a nasty “I’m too important, get away from me look”… but would keep staring at me when I’m not looking. Guys, can you explain what this behavior means please.

Not every guy, but at least the ones I’ve liked in the past, some have acted this way. I met this guy a few months and while I was always nice to him and tried getting close to him, he began acting like he hates me and looks at me with that “I’m too good/too important” look (obviously that pushes me away and I avoid him), but then I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve caught him staring at me. I just don’t get it…
