My boyfriend and I met when we were kids and then didn’t talk for about 6 years. We recently reconnected in September and started dating in November. One month in and he’s love bombing the crap out of me. I told him in the beginning, I don’t say “I like you” and especially “I love you” a lot because I want it to be meaningful, he respected it at first but now he tells me at least 5 times a day. He won’t have a proper conversation, just a bunch of sappy-ness and talking about the future and saying things like “oh if you keep saying/ doing that I’ll have to put a ring on your finger the next time I see you” How can I get him to slow down and stop being borderline obsessive? It’s made me question if I want to continue this because it’s very draining on me to have the same sappy conversation over and over again on auto pilot at this point and I feel bad because I’m not being genuine.

"You know, I really appreciate all your compliments and attention, and the fact that you're happy we got back together and it's made you really happy.
But I'm honestly not sure where I stand on this yet (on us), and also, I'm not the kind of person to really jump in, and be super expressive. I need to take my time, decide how I feel.
I'm hoping you can understand that, and maybe ease up a bit, and let us just get to know each other again. We're different now. We can't just pick right back up where we left off. And what's the hurry, really? Let's enjoy each other, but for now, I really can't make any plans for the future, ok? I really care about you, but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. Can we just lighten things up a bit?"
This answer is great. 👌
@dynamicyandere Aww thank you.
I don't think you should ever try to make someone change when you're just dating, I think you just need to find someone who is already what you want. You risk the person "faking it" until it's too late then reverting back, otherwise.
I agree and that’s been on my mind if it’d be better to let him find someone who’s just as cheesy and over the top as he is because I’m definitely not. I have my moments but it’s not constant
Do a translation for him: "YOU mean to say I miss those carefree days (Like) and nostalgically long for those days of innocence with you..., RIGHT !!"
