I texted asking a guy friend who I have a crush on to meet at a bar to see a band with some friends. He responded back almost immediately saying yes. A few hours later he texted me again saying he couldn't make it because his holiday work party is that night. I'm wondering if this is just an excuse and he really just doesn't want to hang out. I guess what I'm asking is is this a sign that he's not interested in me?

No he replied to you right away first time I think he meant it. Then he canceled because of his job party. I can say his priority that day was his job party. I think try once again if you guys can hang out again if he doesn’t go then it’s safe to say he isn’t interested.
As for now we can’t say for sure if he isn’t interested. Give it one more try….
