What does it mean when a guy tells you "I'm dating you for this season"? Does this mean it is just a temporary relationship?

I thought the same but we ended up having more disagreements. His sister was one reason and siad because she got sick and was in the hospital for months in the pandemic he wasn't sure about the future for anything. I don't know what kind of excuse that is

I don't think i'm staying with him because we spoke about these things multiple times and this is the first time he's actually being proactive in the 3 years i've known him but i don't have the patience to wait around. So much time has passed

Honestly I doubt that it’s a heartbroken sort of hurt and more like anger because he won’t be able to have his way with you anymore. I noticed in your comment to someone else that you said it’s been 3 years, and that’s a very long time for him to have made some serious moves, which he never did. He’s had ample time, countless opportunities to commit and yet his mindset is to treat you like a “season”. To me, his actions deserve no further deduction or effort to understand when this is how he’s choosing to be towards you.

He cried in front of my friend and everything. So she said he's hurt but I don't know I don't think I want him back. He doesn't have a car or drive and I used to help and I stoped towards the end which he respected.
