What does this Reddit questionn mean?

I've been browsing through Reddit again, my favorite stress relief which is kind of sad 😂

Anyways, this woman explains how she wants to do cosplay as he boyfriend likes watching it. However he says he doesn't want her doing it. She says she got every upset and thinks it because she is ugly.

Is it a fantasy thing for him and he doesn't want it to be real? Does he not find her attractive? What does it mean?

A cosplay to be successful needs that kind of body. A fat man would make a joke of Batman if he wore a Batman suit right? It is like that.

Maybe that girl has an amazing body or not, that is a different thing. What matters is, does she look good in the cosplay or not. Is she not insulting the character? These things matter, as a certain image is there in our mind regarding a certain character. Maybe the guy does not want to get that image ruined.

She should do justice to the character. She should not try to do cosplay just because her boyfriend likes the character. She may be amazing in real life. But just as she is. Not anyone, different character.

I think there could be several things. Based on what you typed, I don't think it's because he thinks she's ugly. You said her boyfriend likes watching it. So, what he might not like is her doing cosplay for others. Otherwise none of this makes sense. Or... maybe he doesn't really like it? So maybe not about her or his physical attraction to her but just the roleplay part.

Actually, yeah. First, as hard as it sounds, don't get angry (at least not at first). Second, at a time when they're not about to have sex and she's not dressed up, have her sit him down to talk. Ask him non-judgmentally something like, "I care about what matters to you. I would like to better understand how you feel about my cosplay." And then be silent and let him talk. DON'T try to respond to every little point or be defensive or convince him. Just LISTEN and get the information she needs. I am pretty certain this has NOTHING to do with her looks -- they're dating, right? and having sex, right? -- so this is something else and she needs to get him to communicate it.

If she can't get him to communicate about this, that's an indicator of a larger problem.
