Not at all, I think it is harmless.
He likely thought if he gave you something, your son might be a little jealous. I think the guy is just trying to be decent and maybe get on your good side and his.

No , one of my moms boyfriends took me out for dinner and toy shopping when I was 5 I was with that man all day had no clue who he was but I had a blast
