I haven't had that experience. Since I have always been pretty reserved and I don't catch feelings quickly, so I had plenty of time to tiptoe past those red flags. Also seeing others around me make the mistake helped me.

When I was a freshman in high school, there was this attractive boy who was a year older than me. As we continued to talk, I noticed that he randomly popped up next to me. When I started to feel uncomfortable, I purposely started to hide, but he ends up finding me no matter what. There was other things, but I don't really remember.

I didn't ignore them. I proceeded in spite of them. I just learned to jump ship before any real problems started and enjoyed the time I had.
