How do I tell if he’s playing me or just confused?

So I’ve been talking to this guy for about 6 months, I’ve known him longer though through mutual friends. He says he wants to “take it slow and see where it goes” and when I ask him if I stand a chance in the future he says he “doesn’t know”.. he always gives me hugs when he leaves. Is he interested and maybe just doesn’t know what he wants or just stringing me along? He has been hurt a lot before and hasn’t been in a relationship for over 10 years.

If you have had sex or are currently sexually involved then he is likely stringing you along from your perspective. He likely thinks it is a committed but uncommitted dating relationship. No definition but together exclusively.

It seems like you need to discuss relationship Vision ans Expectations. I do not care about excuses of the Past. We are talking Present and Future. If one lives in the Past then get out while you can...

We’ve had sex one time which resulted in us having a baby. He’s a good dad to her

So you think he’s interested in some degree? He has also said “possibly in the future” to me.. and he knows how I feel about him. We’ve talked on phone multiple times for about an hour. But he doesn’t want to talk sexual. He says he’s not ready for that kind of talk.
