Over the last six months, my boyfriend frequently talks about a girl he works with whenever I am with him. The girl is one of his colleagues, and the place where he works is a very small intimate company and it’s often just the two of them together all day. We are in along-distance relationship and so he sees this girl more than he sees me which I find difficult.
Every time that I see him, and often when we talk on the phone, she comes up in conversation. I know it's normal to talk about the people you work with, after all we spend a lot of time at work (we both work full time now having graduated from uni) but I guess it's the things he says and the way that he talks about her which I find uncomfortable. So the other day he said to me ‘how would you feel if I told you that Sabrina hugged me the other day and I hugged her back. It was just a friendly hug and meant nothing’. I told him that the way he was talking about her made me feel uncomfortable and that I thought he was intentionally trying to make me feel jealous.
So anyway, I’ve noticed that when he talks to me about work now, he never ever mentions her name or brings her up in conversation. He talks about his male colleagues a lot but she never comes up at all.
Should I be concerned that he doesn’t speak about his female colleague to me anymore?
