Guys, Why do men approachy you if they aren't single?

I was approached by a man at a party who showed interest in seeing me again. I messaged him as I was already following him on Instagram, he asked when he could see me because he wanted to find out more about me. We arranged to meet, however that didn't happen due to travel issues. He didn't show any further interest with regards to communication. We eventually crossed paths again and the communication was off. I found out he is in a relationship. Is this the reason for the strange behaviour?

Most women are only interested in the top 10% of men (as rated by women for attractiveness), and these men have spent their entire lives having endless women chasing after them. As such, they're incredibly spoiled, entitled, and self-centered, especially in matters regarding women (with very few exceptions) - but if you are dealing with such men, the ONLY reasonable expectation to have is that they're going to cheat, that they're generally only interested in women for sex, and that they'll dump you as soon as they grow bored or you become a hassle for them - and they'll have a replacement for you an hour later.

I'm not condoning or endorsing their behavior - I think it's vile - but I can recognize that they're going to keep doing it because they can so easily get away with it - there will always be women chasing them regardless of their behavior because they're attractive.

Either he was single when he met you at the party, he had something casual with the girl he is seeing now and there was no commitment at the time you met him, or he’s a cheater. It’s not that difficult… When he met you at the party his current girlfriend obviously wasn’t with him right? So, it’s most likely that he was out going to parties, clubs, bars, and other social events trying to meet new people. You were one potential girl he met. He probably met and got the numbers of several different girls during that time period. You were low on the totem pole being that there wasn’t much communication. The other girl was more interesting to him for whatever reason. Maybe she’s better looking. Maybe she’s a better communicator. Maybe she has a better personality. Maybe maybe maybe… It doesn’t really matter. She won his attention and he moved on from you and started dating her.

This is one thing that both men and women are guilty of, although in my opinion, women do it even more than guys.

It's called 'in a relationship, but still shopping'. Back when I used to meet women through the personal ads, it would be very discouraging when I'd meet a woman at a restaurant, treat her to a nice dinner (which usually wasn't cheap) and then, when I'd call her a few days later, she'd either tell me that she just got back together with her boyfriend or she'd just say, 'Yeah, I already have a boyfriend, but I just wanted to meet you...'. Is it right? No. Does it happen every day? Yes.

There’s a lot of reasons. Maybe a little side action if you’re willing to entertain it. Maybe just trying to boost his ego to see if he’s still got it or not. It could be the reason why. But then it may not. He may have met someone else in that short amount of time that he was talking to you that he liked better. So yes he could have been single when he met you. Sometimes men as well as women just like the attention of the opposite sex even if they say they would never go beyond flirting. Something that they haven’t felt in years as most relationships become stagnant after a while.

Because he's a guy and he refuses to control his impulses. Many women won't care if the guy isn't single if he's considered a Big Catch. They welcome the advances. Its naturally harder for guys to control their impulse not to chase women. That's why if a guy is loyal to you then you should be sure to appreciate him. If not, then you don't deserve him.

I'm asking why a straight man in a longterm relationship would approach me , only to not want to communicate further? I wasn't aware he was in a relationship when I met him but found out days later. Could this be the reason why he lost interest? Why bother ask to see me again. if you know you're not available?
