How to know the difference space or effort?

When a guy says his mood is down how do you know if he wants you to give him space or for you to make the effort to lift it?

His last text said he has no mood to talk and that we’ll talk another time. Should I say anything back or just leave him to reach out when he’s ready?

Got to let him be and go live your life!! Same thing happened to me. I was confused at first. But I was just like him. I used to shut down when things got too intense or when I'm uncomfortable in having to face something foreign... I'd shut down completely. This person is hurt and has been hurt like we all have. But let your friend get the healing they need & deserve. Wish them well but don't wait up. They don't want you to. He set you free. Don't hold a butterfly too tight. You'll crush it. You are not bound to him. No marriage and no committed relationship. He's not emotionally attached. You may also not be someone he needs at the moment. You can send some. some. Encouraging words like you hope he feels better. If you need anything you'll be here. But then go live your life. He will one day probably come back. Hopefully it's not too late. Hopefully you moved on by then. He's a guy... he may need another male figure... a professional or God. I hope all 3. But he's too stuck right now to see much. It's not you it's him. Also, you arnt a healer. You are young. You can be nurturing but you have no degree to heal someone else. He hasn't even told you what was wrong. Just wish him the best & go live your lice :)

That depends on me, my relationship with you, and what you specifically are going to do. Calling me on the phone when I lost my voice isn't all that helpful, but some homemade chicken soup may be. If I'm physically down but can move, I personally would rather just be left alone. If I need help doing something, obviously that would be what I'd like you to do. If I'm emotionally down and you know something that is likely to cheer me up, do that. To answer that last part though, you have to know him well enough to know what that is.
