I did that on a trip hiking one time. Poached some salmon in a lemon dill sauce with asparagus and honeyed heirloom carrots in various aluminum foil packets wedged between the engine block and the hood. Had gone the day before to stash the wine in a hollowed out tree so I could get everything else in a 5L day pack. The carrots were a little undercooked but that was only somewhat disappointing.

When I was in the Army we'd warm our fajitas in the RF jammer on the vehicles. Worked like a microwave kind of. Really useful on cold mornings out in the middle of nowhere.
