Do you think he's insecure if I lose weight I'll get more attention (though I'm already pretty) or because he loves me for me?
I'm not sure if I'd agree with @hahahmm that "most women think they weight too much when they don't" when 42.4% of people are obese (https://www.niddk.nih.gov/health-information/health-statistics/overweight-obesity). Surely that's not all just men.
Actually further down the page it breaks it down by sex.
27.5% of women are overweight
41.9% are obese
11.5% are severely obeseI agree that weight on the scale is a bad measurement, as I've dated some extremely fit women who weighed more than you'd expect them to with loose clothing on, but I do find it curious that you didn't actually say anything about what shape you're in. Only that "[you're] cute"... which means nothing.
If you're anorexic and he doesn't want you to lose weight it isn't because he's concerned you'll get too much attention so he's insecure.
Conversely, if you actually DO need to drop a few pounds, if he DOES love you ("for you" or any other reason) then he ought want what is medically best for you, and that's to lose the weight.
If you're actually obese and he just has a fetish, personal preference doesn't trump medical science so his opinion shouldn't matter.
WHY is it that you think you need to lose weight? As opposed to just toning up, rather?

Most women think they weigh too much when they don't. Then the fat ones thing they look perfect. So odds are that you don't need to lose weight. Also weight is a BAD way to measure stuff. Proportions matter more. Two women could be the same weight & height while one looks sloppy/nasty & the other looks fit. Body fat percentage is a way better measure but keep in mind that when a woman loses too much of that she starts to look like a dude.
What Guys Said
It could be one or the other or both. As long as you are healthy and you want to stay with him, leave it alone. If your doctor feels that losing weight is in your best interest. That is a health issue and I would follow medical advice. Talk to your doctor and tell your boyfriend that you are following medical advice to be more healthy. If he objects to you being more healthy, he is not for you.
Guys are in general direct creatures. If he says you are fine at your weight he means it.
thats a first lol
