Anonymous(25-29)+1 yBecause, without exception, whenever I leave my house I am targeted and harassed by them wherever I go:
In addition to staring, they make sexual gestures, touch themselves, stroke their hair, cough as they pass me, reach out their leg/s towards me, make weird facial expressions (moving their jaw all the way right/left), cross their legs and posturing at me, and talking in an uncomfortable way to name a few.Instead of stopping when I tell them to stop, and that I do not consent, they move closer and double down; so I now have to raise my voice so that those around me will peer pressure them to stop harassing me.
Today, when I was at five guys, the cook looked at me coughed to get my attention whilst cooking my burger, and then spoke in a really high pitch accent when giving it to me. I left it on the counter and forfeit the £8.65. I'm not eating something coughed on.Last week I was spat at by a man I told to stop staring and touching himself (I initially didn't say anything and moved all the way to the back of the bus, but he just turned around and kept doing it) and then after getting a doughnut from Tim Hortons to calm down, I was targeted by another who tried to stalk me home during the dark. They only stopped following me when I broke a stick off a fallen tree branch and carried it for protection.
I don't dress in any particular way, I never style myself, and even in dirty old clothes, they don't get the message. The only way I can be safe is to surround myself with women, which isn't hard but not always an option. I am a traditional man who dresses and acts as such. I have naturally good looks by others' standards, fair hair, broad shoulders, but I cannot go out without being targeted for them.Any responses legitimising sexual harassment or questioning my identity should be removed.

The guys I know, including conservatives, have no problem with gays who don't act ridiculous.
Maybe some people just don't care to be around activists or the kind of gay guys who flaunt their overly sexualized gayness. Nobody has a right to be liked or accepted.
There are some gay guys I really like and some who make me absolutely sick.101 Reply
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yNot threaded but they just feel wrong to be around.
My hubby put it to being in a single women's group for him. Not supposed to be there! I'd be pissed so why would I not be mad a guy will flirt with him.
Won't be the first time lol shameless

493 opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. Funny because I was confused at the word threatened too. But when I thought about it, if someone doesn't want to be around a gay person because they're gay. Which I've seen many many times. Even to the point where the gay person would get beat up if they kept interacting with the person. Then it would mean that the persons disgust sensitivity is very high for gay people. And your guard only comes up when you feel threatened. Otherwise you'll behave as if you're in a safe environment.
So, I think that's the right word to use. A lot of them feel threatened by them. But mainly because they don't want to be associated with a gay person. And if we're thinking rationally, we don't just become threatened by something unless there's a possible disadvantage ahead. And they could feel that. Even if it's not true.

+1 yMy little brother just doesn't like being around them. he's fine around a friend of mine who's gay but he says for the most part he doesn't feel comfortable around them. He says most of the ones he meets act a certain way that he doesn't want to be around.
I think threatened is a pretty strange word to use. I think some people make their sexuality a major part of their personality in a way that a straight person won't. I got no problem personally with whatever someone's into but if I can tell your sexuality before I can even speak a first word to you, you don't see how that makes some people uncomfortable? Lol
13 Reply- +1 y
Same applies to straight guys. Like nobody wants to hear about how you think literally every girl is even if we’re straight. Just as there is too gay, there is too straight.
- +1 y
@OctopusEars like I said, when you can tell someone's sexuality before you even talk to them, it's uncomfortable, it doesn't matter if your straight gay or like to have sex with balloons. The only time anyone should even remotely be thinking about you in bed is if you're flirting or something. Not over the general course of the day.

But you do what you want in your bed room idc I’m not gay but I don’t care if you kiss your boyfriend before you go to class or work. I don’t announce that I’m strayed. I don’t see why you need to announce that you’re gay. I don’t think Gaby boys should be persecuted or beaten. I don’t think gay marriage is a thing because marriage is between a man and a woman with the interest of bearing and raising children, but idc if you’re gay have fun with whom ever you want. I understand the tax benefits when it comes to “gay marriage” which is why I support the idea of civil unions, but I’m not uncomfortable. I took gym class with a gay guy. He saw me in my boxers every single day did care issues with the trans crap

+1 yI don't feel threatened I feel disgusted and repulsed. I think it is a normal and natural reaction to things that are unnatural which homosexuality clearly is since if everyone were homosexual there would be no human race. It is a defect. I have had lots of times when homosexual men flirted with me or made suggestive comments, even if they were my friends and knew I wasn't interested. It disgusts me. When I was in my 20s some guys were following me around the streets in a major city like stalkers and making sexual comments and I wanted to throw up. I don't care what you do in the privacy of your own home. Just like with any other defect, I don't hold it against the person as long as they respect me. But keep it to yourself. That's all I ask. If you want to flaunt it, have sexual demonstrations in the streets, you are a crass, classless person who is disrespectful of others and deserve all the scorn and disrespect that you get back in return.

Listen Mr. "BOO HOO I'M SUCH A VICTIM! EVERYONE IS OUT TO GET ME"
I couldn't care less what you think. My mother's cousin in his 80s and is homosexual and he is one of my favorite people in the family. Why? BECASUE HE KEPT HIS MOUTH SHUT ABOUT IT AND RESPECTED HIS FAMILY MEMBERS. None of this "coming out" crap, none of the "BOO HOO I'M A VICTIM" crap, none of this calling other people names like a 2 year old. Everyone in the family knew he was homosexual. He didn't have to "come out" he just did his thing and kept his mouth shut respecting that some people in the family DIDN'T WANT TO DEAL WITH THE AWKWARD CONVERSATION.
He lived with a man for 40 years and brought him to every family event. EVERYONE KNEW. So why put the family through that SELFISH awkwardness?
AND THAT is why he is one of my favorite people. Because unlike some of the psycho homosexuals that aren't happy until they offend every other person on the planet and demonize them, HE HAD RESPECT FOR OTHER PEOPLE. You don't give any respect you don't get any respect. That's the way the real world works Mr. Boo Hoo.
Asker+1 yYou're a clown that had nothing to do with my response you've just gone off on a tangent about nonsense.

I don't feel threatened by homosexuals I feel REPULSED by them because the thought of a man putting his you know what you know were is disgusting to me. It makes me sick to see two men kissing. To fucking bad for you that I am not going to lie about what I think about it like you expect everyone to do to satisfy your own selfish mental issues. If you don't like it tough luck. Unlike my cousin, you are part of the reason so many people can't stand homosexuals. You can dish it out, but you can't take it. Too damn bad.
752 opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. The only gay men I ever felt threatened by were gay predators at the gym when I was growing up, pedophiles that waited till you went into the locker room to try to talk to you or purposely undress very close to you or get in the shower stall next to yours. Apart from those, your average gay man has never been threatening to me.

+1 yI think there’s a couple reasons
1. They’re afraid that gay men will treat them the way they treat women themselves. A lot of straight men (not all) are creeps towards women. They don’t respect their boundaries and they feel gay men will do the same to them.
2. cause they’re in the closet and they’re afraid of finding men attractive so they get defensive00 Reply
+1 yI have a few good gay friends and I don’t get this either! It’s a bit like being around a gay man implies they’re gay too! I believe there are studies showing that men are more likely to think women are attracted to them when they aren’t and women are more likely to think men aren’t attracted to when they are. Confusing but it does explain why a straight man might automatically assume that a gay man fancies him and then act all weird around them.

+1 yI'm not sure because I feel like I do around anyone else. Someone being gay has no affect on me. I'm quite comfortable around gay people. I actually get a little more feminine myself around gay friends. Not interested in anyone's sex life and I'm comfortable in my sexuality. What I see sometimes is men who are too insecure and want to be macho, I'm not sure what that accomplishes other than looking like a tool.
