If he came back to me, does it mean he loves me like he says?

My ex came back after a year. He said he was heartbroken and missed me badly.

He asked me to allow him to see me. He said that I am the only one who truly believes in him and understands him. He just wants me. He made himself vulnerable saying all this. He also told me still loves me and always will.

Does he sound like he's to believed?

I mean it's entirely possible (but not objectively true) that he really does just have strong feelings for you. I'm not sure how I feel about him dumping all that on you a year later because it has some strong emotional dependency/rebound vibes.

But regardless of what he says, consider on why you broke up with him. Was it an issue that would have been resolved with time or is it likely to be a reoccurring problem. More over, do you even want to try again with him if that's what he's asking? Did you enjoy your relationship and do you think it could fit well into your current life? Focus less on him and more on yourself.

I'd say, even if you are interested and your break-up wasn't over an issue that will continue, acknowledge the fact that it's been a year. To some extent you're both different people now and you're going to need to get to know each other and learn to trust one another again. Don't just jump in assuming that everything will be the same/similar.

I know it might be overwhelming and exciting if you still love him too, but try not to go diving back in head first. The man was gone a year, what’s he been doing all this time if there’s all this undying love? He only wants you, where’s he been these past 12 months? Did that other woman stop believing in him or what? Lol. Moral of the story is to let his actions do the talking. If you want him back too then that’s fine, but protect your heart at the same time. If he shows you all of this love with good behavior, then great. I’d give it some time though, and practice celibacy for a few weeks because you are nobody’s rebound.

I broke up with him and told him not to ever contact me again. I was angry when I said that and later regretted it. Anyways, he dated someone and it didn't work out. He said he finally reached out because he really missed and still apologized for reaching out. He thought I would be angry. The truth is I was happy to hear from him.

There’s a reason you broke up with him in that manner, right? I already figured you were happy to hear from him, which is why I said what I did. I’m just saying to proceed with caution if you do decide to give him another chance. There’s other elements to factor in, with your well-being at the top of the list.

If that's what you want to believe. Odds are more likely that the sex he was getting somewhere else dried up. Because if he loved you he's have never left. But as I said, if it makes you feel better to believe this that's fine. It isn't hurting anybody but you.
