Why would a guy ghost you and then stare at you when you see each other?

I have a guy acquaintance who I've known for years. He teases me and we get along well. Recently we started texting on Snapchat. He was watching all of my stories and the conversation was really fun. I ended up asking him if he'd want to get a drink some time. He ghosted me and we haven't spoken since. Now when we're in person he stares at me. He isn't rude, it's just weird. His best friend has always been super flirty with me and it took me a bit to realize he's just a player. Could that be a reason this guy ghosted me? Like, will guys not pursue a girl if their buddy already has? And why does he stare at me? We've never had any bad blood between us and I just feel bad now because it's awkward between us.

He's staring because it's awkward. It I'd almost like an unwanted reflex. You know that old saying about how you can't look away from a bad car crash? Yeah like that sorta thing. He's looking at you most likely to see if you are looking at him which ya are since you would have to be to see him looking at you. So you are both doing it. He might have backed off because his buddy might still want to pursue you. That I'm really not sure about and only he knows the real reason why he ghosted.
