No necessarily. They might want more than that in the form of dating or a relationship. Maybe he doesn't want to view it as just a hookup. He also may be making sure that is all it is too. Ask him what he meant since it can go either way really. He might just be making sure you don't want more than that too. I sort of lean in that direction of him making sure you aren't also expecting a relationship or something like that and it is about sex only.
