Guys, Is this a good deal?

My 6 year affair partner offered to give me 10 grand towards a new car.

Ya i know but im not on here for bashing. He said between that and your car being worth 10 grand that 20,000 down on a 36,000 car. He said you'll only have a 300 a month car payment. I want to give u the money because I don't like seeing I get stranded and have maintenance fees.

My car has 105,000 miles, no car payment. I just got a new battery, new tires. It needs brakes and 2 belts.

Is it worth it for me to take the 10 grand for a new car or keep this car with no payment and just upkeep. It's a 5 yr old suburu.

I realize you just had a few items at once (battery, tires) etc, but that's normal for a car with that mileage. I want to qualify this by saying I've never owned a Subaru and know nothing about their reliabilty. A five year old vehicle with 105,000 miles should have plenty of life left. Has your Subaru broke down frequently? Imho a reliable vehcle that is paid off is worth it's weight in gold. Personally I wouldn't ever want the possibility of a financial gift held over me. Your moral code is obviously different than mine, so you may not mind.
