Why does this guy always nitpick at everything?

I show an accomplishment and he finds any little reason to belittle or say something negative about it. I would be genuinely proud of myself and he would find any reason to pick on me.

It is so annoying! But I also noticed it was an activity he use to like and be good at so I dont know if his mad because I am getting better than him or his just a nasty person?
