There is a tendency for bitterness from a separation, breakup or divorce trickling down to the children. But if they're the dad's offspring, they have little to do with the toxicity of the mother, or failure of the relationship between the adults.

This is a difficult situation to pull off well. But sensible adults will want the best for their children, no matter how awful a mother or father of the children is. And the best outcome for children is when the parents can at least be civil because they both have to deal with the children and everything about how they're being raised.

But if it's factually your child, one night stand or not, you have an obligation to do for that child. Money only would be a sad substitute for being a parent. IT's about responsibility.

Well, with a one night stand, it's unlikely the guy would ever know unless the woman "tracked him down" and set up a court case against him. But, this is the problem with problematic sexual encounters. It's like unfixed dogs spewing baby batter. Leads to abandoned and un-cared for children who grow up with "less than". Never a good thing.

I disagree. Many women would give up the child to adoption and have nothing to do with it. And if a man KNEW he had a child, even if it were from a one-night stand, we cannot predict what his reaction would be. If it's proven that the child is his, it is completely up to him to choose to take care of the child. You can't hate a child because of your carelessness. You don't have to love the mother to love the child. What goes for divorce, goes period. There are many mothers who "stay with the baby" but resent it and abuse it. You cannot make a blanket statement about "love."

FALSE, I am divorced with two daughters. I have to talk/see the girls mother every day because of the kids. I love my daughters, they are beautiful and smart kids. She divorced me and I don't care much about her other than if she has a good relationship with them as well.

Given that particular scenario, probably not. But what kind of lowlife girl gets pregnant from a one-night hook up, and what kind of lowlife guy would take the chance of getting a chick on a one night stand pregnant? That's a kind of irresponsible stupidity that I can't wrap my mind around.

But that's not the only kind of scenario in which two people could have children together and not actually love each other. But they might love their children.
