It’s like, their car isn’t actually that fast and powerful, so they try to make their car SOUND like it’s fast and powerful.
Meanwhile, if you see something like a Lamborghini, they don’t need to make their car louder because at a glance, you already know that’s a supercar. They have nothing to prove. They already get immediate recognition.
But for the guys with a cheap car, sometimes they want to add all this sh*t to it so that it begins looking and sounding like a faster and more powerful car.
When the top 1% can just buy a supercar right off the bat, perfectly engineered already.
Perhaps an analogy is a guy flexing for the camera.
Let’s say they aren’t that muscular. So, they then try to find the best angle and the best lighting to look as muscular as they can.
When a truly muscular guy is going to already look pretty buff in most angles and lighting, so they don’t need to try as hard.
Whenever I heard such cars drive passed me, my immediate thought is "nothing to show off got to make loud noise".
This question got me think deeper. And I think the person's mind is as loud and noisy as his car. And he's in constant unrest.
This means he's so disturb with life and really need to slow down and rest.
Finally, from the feeling "nothing else to show off", I started to pity them. I wonder what gives that such disturbing mental state and truly hope they get treatment.
nope, usually it is some old beater she is driving dragging her exhaust system. From April through October I work on the safety team at a major road course and I have seen every type of car there is, as well as cleaning up the mess they make when they crash. About the only ones I pay attention to are the vintage cars that run there twice a year, otherwise it's just another car, so when I see them on the street I wonder if they are that good why aren't they running them on the track instead of a parking lot?
It not about impressing girls. It never was. Its about the thrill and the rush of adrenaline and dopamine when the machine comes to life at your whim.

In the current era, there's no need to hunt and no rivals to fight but the innate desire is still there. So driving a powerful and loud car gives the same satisfaction a hunt or a fight would.
Not everything guys do is to turn on women. Some guys like cars and like to modify them. A louder sounding car gives off the impression of a faster more modified car. Even if they drive a honda civic if they messed with the exhaust you can tell they are a car guy who has at least modified a few things on his car, even if ye can't afford an expensive car.
People want fast cars to go fast. It's about the adrenaline rush. For some that adrenaline is a drug... an addiction... They modify their car to go just a little bit faster and get just a little bit more of a high. I doubt you've ever given a man that much of a rush in bed... That's why they're in their car instead of in you.
The fad around here is kids drive little Japanese cars with a loud exhaust. I don't get it. I would be embarrassed driving around in one of them. It's just a little less stupid on the stupidity scale than the guys with the really loud car stereos.
Agreed, and they are typically the neighbor's kid that leaves early in the morning for the city to go to work. You can hear them going and coming from miles away.
The guys drive them kind of loud sounding cars to get girls attention and no offense, but he is getting attention from many girls and that's how he wants things to be. Some loud exhausts like a straight pipe allows more air to flow through the engine out through, increasing hp. So although it can be annoying as shit to hear someone’s car screaming, it can somewhat be justified.
Obnoxiously loud exhausts I agree are annoying. But a loud or deep exhaust, especially on V8’s is thrilling. It’s not to impress women, it gives you a dopamine rush.
Loud exhaust brings back the golden era of vehicles which was the 1950s 1960s, but in the 1960s was when they started hot roding cars it's not to impress girls it's to give us males a hobby bring back a legendary time in history
