What is the point of loud exhaust and engine?

What is the point of loud exhaust and engine other than making noise

I dislike when people rev their engines in front of my house or as they are going down the street

I understand the sound of a motorcycle since you can't exactly fix it but I've seen quieter cars

I think the best car is Tesla because of how quiet it is.
