have been talking to old of teacher mine on facebook from highschool

when i was living in another state she is only 5 years older then me.

was talking to a friend at work he said i should make a move somewhat.

i said this today you are beautiful on facebook

when she wrote back on facebook
saying Thank you

I don't think that you said something wrong here. But by her response looks like you should not be fast on this. Leave it as a joke and talk like nothing happened. It is ok to mention that someone is beautiful, but slow down with the second move and 'read the room' look how the conversation is going.

But why you need to be sorry if you think that someone is beautiful? You are not telling her that you are deeply in love or you are thinking about her all the time (that would be creepy). If you will tell that you are sorry after every cute thing you say she will see you as a child (i would).
