Why are men bad at housekeeping?

Being a man l find it puzzling that l am capable of manual labor, at home and at work, to the point of exhaustion. But when it comes to loading my dishwasher and vacuuming, l can go weeks without doing either. I am divorced now, but while still married, l would at least voluntarily keep the kitchen clean after cooking. What is it about those small details that l am not motivated to do?

Ouch!! Actually, l divorced her. I cooked & kept the kitchen clean. You must have skipped over that fact while slapping me in the head with your femininism. I divorced her after 18 years of her narcissism. I also shouldered the financial responsibilities of keeping a roof over her head while she worked as an LPN. The money she earned she did not invest in our marriage. I was the one expected to pay the bills, & to pay for building a life with her. Marriage was not a partnership for her.

You never learned how to clean because your mom did all the work as a kid and when you were married your wife did the invisible labor and said nothing. You don’t know how to see something is wrong and fix it because your first instinct is “oh, someone else will get it” and that’s not what’s happening. I wouldn’t be surprised if you left all the pressure of managing your home to your ex wife and that’s part of why she divorced you. It’s not enough to ask “What can I do to help?” You need to know how to take care of your own house when you live in it, you shouldn’t be shouldering all that work on your spouse unless it was something you both agreed to.

I bet you never learned how to go out, build something with your own two hands, sweat to the point of heat stroke, manage your finances as well as l can, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and preform preventive maintenance to reduce the risk of mechanical failure including your car maintenance. See, we men have learned to do that. That is, physical labor. Women weren’t built for that.

Yeah, I tried to learn from my dad but he never let me. He always preferred to do it himself despite me asking him to teach me. Same with my uncles and brothers.

It is crazy how parents teach their kids how to drive, but choose not to teach them the importance of maintaining a vehicle. Especially, their daughters. I wouldn’t want to chance her breaking down in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of rush hour traffic or anytime after dark.

What was she narcissistic about? Anyway, I guess you're able to do manual labor at work because you have a clear reason to do it - to get paid. House cleaning doesn't really need to get done unless you have company.

not every man is a bad house cleaner and not ever woman is a good one.. its something you have to learn to do and if you have your own place most will take care of there own homes man or woman most.. sex really has nothing to do with it that was 50 years ago shit.

I think men just don't actually know what dirty looks like nor do they care on how to learn to clean properly. Women are more detail oriented so it's easy for us to notice the small things that need to be cleaned
