As for what he's thinking... honestly he's probably feeling pretty crappy about what he said since you haven't responded. Guys often cool off after the heat of an argument and regret being a jerk.

At this point he's probably worried he really screwed up. Part of him might be thinking you won't text back because you're mad/hurt, and the other part hopes you will so he can try to make up.

Guys get caught up in their anger sometimes and say dumb things. Chances are he knows going off on you wasn't cool. Now he's left feeling like an idiot, wondering if you'll call him out or give him another chance.

If I were you, I wouldn't text him right away. Let him marinate in the guilt a bit longer. But when you do respond, keep it chill - just say something like "let's talk later when we've both cooled off".

That shows you're not dramatic, but also that he needs to watch what he says next time. With any luck he'll apologize and you guys can hash it out without more fighting, ya know? Just my two cents, bro. Hope things work out alright!
