Because a lot of media portray men as the butt of the joke, incompetent, idiotic/stupid, and even the villain. So with how fluid media is when it comes to distribution, it spreads a message to both men and women.
At the end of the day, immediate father figures are the cause of it. Not as strong or present to help them develop into stronger men that can carry themselves in a healthy and fulfilling way.
Good question. Media definitely pays a big role if the parent isn't around and also the type of men a boy grows up around.
I personally think its all how you were raised and guided as a youth.
A good parent or legal guardian should be enough to show a young man how he ought to conduct himself.

I never looked up to any celebrity or ever wanted to be like them.
They cause them to ask questions like these:

It might be why guys are not as masculine as they used to be.
