My boyfriend checks my purse to see if I have money and even if I do he puts more money in there? Why?

I think its sweet he's looking out for me but I had a ex that got mad at me cause I didn't wanna have sex with hum then he brought up the present he got me for my birthday. I know my boyfriend wouldn't do that we haven't gotten physical yet but I'm nervous and I got mad at him a few times when he didn't stop, he keeps saying he doesn't expect anything he's just doing it cause he wants too but then now it's outfits I like or stare ar and I find them in my closet in a week. It's just anxiety triggering for me so now when he asks if I like something I say no and I cling onto my bag so he can't get my purse.

I have he's resorted to telling me while he does it like I'm buying u that dress or that book. Or I don't see money in your pursue I'm putting some in there. He stopped doing it when I'm sleeping or showering. he's 8 years older than me 29. He dies have a job that pays more and more financially stable.
